High up in the hills of Nueva Segovia, near the small community of Los Arados, lies Finca La Libertad – a family-run coffee farm led by Danny Joel Pastrana since 2015. Coffee has been part of his family’s story for generations, and today Danny continues that tradition with care and curiosity.

The farm covers about 60 manzanas (just over 42 hectares), with around 10 manzanas dedicated to coffee cultivation. Here you’ll find Catuaí Rojo, Caturra, Ovata, and Maracaturra – varieties grown under the shade of fruit trees and native forest to keep the ecosystem in balance.

At La Libertad, sustainability isn’t a slogan – it’s simply how things are done. Protecting local water sources and biodiversity goes hand in hand with producing high-quality coffee. Each cherry is picked by hand at peak ripeness, and Danny personally follows every stage of the process, from harvest to final bagging.

His dedication shows in every cup. Always experimenting, always refining, Danny’s goal is simple: to make each harvest a little better than the last.
